Sleep and our bodies...

The importance of sleep for brain, emotions and body are tremendous. Most of us are never educated on just HOW important and what is reasonable to expect during pregnancy and when a new little human enters our lives.   Lack of and interruption of sleep, have strong correlation to perinatal mood disorders: Depression, Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Postpartum Psychosis.

The sleep (lack thereof?) of babies and children can present even more obstacles for loving parents who are trying to parent and function to the best of their abilities.

For this combination of reasons, Postpartum Wellness & Family Counseling has sought out additional training and education on sleep consulting related to the perinatal time frame and with respect to babies and young children.
