Sleep and our bodies...

The importance of sleep for brain, emotions and body are tremendous. Most of us are never educated on just HOW important sleep is for our overall functioning.  What is reasonable to expect during pregnancy and when a new little human enters our lives?   Lack of and interruption of-sleep, have strong correlation to perinatal mood disorders: Depression, Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Postpartum Psychosis.  

The lack of knowledge about healthy expectations with regards to your baby's sleep as they grow from newborn, to infant and toddler, can present even more obstacles for loving parents who are trying to parent and function to the best of their abilities.

For this combination of reasons, Postpartum Wellness & Family Counseling has sought out additional training and education on sleep consulting related to the perinatal time frame and with respect to babies and young children.

No, it's NOT ok to "survive on coffee" for now.
